About the event

Raising funds for the Stubbins Village Community Trust Charity, which supports the community in Stubbins, Ramsbottom and surrounding areas.

Running annually for decades and has become an iconic event in Ramsbottom, Lancashire.

Each year, competitors gather for this contest that showcases skill and community spirit.

The Tradition Returns

The World Black Pudding Throwing Championships are back on 14 September 2025, bringing Ramsbottom one of its most loved annual traditions. For many years, the second Sunday in September has seen competitors step up to throw black puddings at a tower of Yorkshire puddings, in a contest that’s equal parts skill and good fun.

Honouring Phil Taylors Legacy

After a short spell of uncertainty earlier this year, following the tragic passing of our beloved organiser Phil Taylor, huge support from the public and local businesses means the event is going ahead, ready to welcome crowds once again for a day that’s as much about community spirit as it is about pudding throwing.

How to take part

Everyone can come along and have a go!

The rules are simple: stand on the oche, throw three black puddings underarm at the Yorkshire puddings perched on a 20-foot scaffold, and see how many you can knock down. It’s harder than it looks, but always gets a cheer from the crowd.

Partners and supporters

We would like to thank not only the local community, for their continued support, but also the local businesses and organisations who continue to support the event and to engage in making it a great day for all involved and visiting
